If you are going to be having a party that you plan on having catered, then you'll need to decide on what type of food would be best. Here are some tips you may want to follow that will help you to choose the best type of food to have offered at your party:
Consider the party setting
If your party is going to be inside of your home or at your business that has light colored carpeting, then you want to consider this when choosing the type of food. Going with Italian food may not be the best way to go since a lot of Italian foods have red pasta sauces that are hard to get out if they are dropped on carpeting or furniture. However, if your party will be held outside or in a banquet hall, then you can pretty much go with any type of food.
Consider the ages of your guests
If your party will include adults only, then you have many choices available to you. However, if there are going to be a lot of children at the party, then you may want to stay away from foods that a lot of kids are known not to like. For example, a party that has a lot of kid's may not be the right one to have something like steak and sea food at. Instead, you may want to go with Italian food that includes kid-friendly foods like spaghetti and pizza, or American food that includes hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken strips.
Consider whether it is a sit down or stand up party
If your party is going to be one where your guests are going to be doing a lot of standing or walking around, then you may want to go with a type of food that has a lot of finger foods or foods that can be eaten with your hands. For example, Mexican food would be good because things like taquitos, burritos and tacos can be easily eaten without sitting down. However, something like Chinese food may be a lot easier to eat when sitting.
Consider the party's theme
If you are going to be having a party with a theme, then you want the food to match the theme. If it is a Cinco De Mayo party, then Mexican food would be the obvious choice. If it is a luau, then it would make more sense to serve pork, salmon and chicken long rice.
